Essentials of Scuba Diving

The focus of this course is to give students the tools needed to be successful in recreational diving. This is achieved by focusing on improvement and mastery of the essential skills of scuba diving. This course will show students mastery of the skills and give them the tools required to assess their own diving abilities as they move on in their diving career. In addition to fundamental skill mastery, students will be taught advanced dive planning, precise buoyancy, propulsion techniques, improving situational awareness, leadership, a minimalist approach for equipment, and unified team diving concepts. This is a great course that will improve any diver's abilities and will start creating a thinking diver.

Regardless of your experience level, this course allows you to grow as a diver. Some divers are eager to begin incorporating the increased skill and academic demands of DIR but do not have the desire to become deep technical divers. This class is tailor made for a new open water diver who wants to know what skills they need to work on, or for the diver new to DIR who wants to learn more without the burden of passing a class.

In this course, students will conduct a minimum of eight (8) dives over three days. Each dive will build upon the skills learned in the previous dives. By the end of the course, students should be able to perform fundamental skills while neutrally buoyant and in good trim, while under small amounts of stress.

Tuition for this course is $400 and includes supplemental materials and certification fees.
